Clean air since 1963; 
development of the company

The Euroclima factory in Brunico, Italy was founded in 1963 as a production company of air handling units. At that time, air conditioning systems in Europe were largely unknown. With the rapidly growing markets also Euroclima grew and a second plant in Sillian, Austria developed in 1980.

Due to many years of experience in the sector of air conditioning Euroclima become a specialist for air handling units. We produce in both companies on a floor area of 28,000 square meters with a staff of 170 employees and we are continuing to expand. People at the centre of the company and visions, as well as durable business relations are guarantees for successful common work, in the future.

The Euroclima group has devolved since its formation in 1963, to one of the most successful compa-nies in the air conditioning and ventilation sector in Europe and all over the world: industrial perfection, automated manufacturing, new developments and very flexible delivery times allow complying the high requirements for an international clientele.

The success story in Austria began in 1980 when the founder Dr. Ing. h.c. Josef Schmidhammer built the second production facility in Sillian. At that time he worked with 12 employees and 2,500 m², now on 7,000 m with 70 employees.

The traditional Tyrolean company has great potential at big construction projects of hotels and office buildings, hospitals and residential buildings to airports, sports complexes and ships. Building objects around the world work today with the ventilation components of Euroclima. This international focus helped Euroclima to master crises in the past successfully.

With know how of more than 48 years experience Euroclima is a guarantee of quality and reliability at the highest level.

The founder

Dr. Ing h. c. Josef Schmidhammer

Dr. Ing h. c. Josef Schmidhammer was born the fourth of six children of a farming family on the farm in Freiburg Riffian. From an early age he learned to survive very difficult situations, and shaped his personality by using his common sense. After returning from the British prisoner of war (he had served in the U-boat arm), he began to implement the learned. Urge and appeal for the self sufficiency move him into entrepreneurship.

• 1953, Dr. Ing h. c. Josef Schmidhammer founded the company J. Schmidhammer GmbH, which is always active in engineering innovation.
• 1963 the company Euroclima AG developed as a production company of ventilation and air conditioning units.

Other companies were founded:

• 1972 Schmidhammer GmbH today in Dasing (D): Production and installation of special equipment made of plastic for the chemical industry.
• 1973 Company COMA Srl in Cavaterre Brentino (I), where heat exchangers become produced.
• 1980 Company Euroclima Apparatebau GmbH in Sillian was built, a true pioneer of cross-border cooperation with the East Tirol commune Sillian.
• 1982 Company Engo in Terenten in which manufactures and sells winter sports equipment and accessories for skating rinks.
• Rapid expansion took place in subsequent years.

The work assignment of the founder belonged to his companies and in his free time mountain tours, climbing, splashing car trips and hunting were welcome changes to constantly renew power.

Dr. Ing h. c. Josef Schmidhammer was awarded with many honors:

• 1994 Medal of the City of Brunico in the economic sector
• 1998 Honorary Cross ANIOC as well as General Delegate for South Tyrol and Austria. The products and services of different companies enjoy high recognition among experts.
